PyeongChang, July 13 – Shinsegae Food, part of Korea’s Shinsegae Group, was announced today as a PyeongChang 2018 Official Supporter. Following a financial donation from the Shinsegae Group, the group has now committed to serving up meals for staff, volunteers, athletes and officials at a number of key venues during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
They will provide catering services at the PyeongChang Olympic Village, Olympic Sliding Centre, Alpensia Biathlon Centre, Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre, Alpensia Cross-Country Centre and the International Broadcast Centre. They will also provide the spectators with food options at the competition venues in the Alpensia Olympic Park.
CHOI Seong-Jei, President of Shinsegae Food said, “Shinsegae Food is committed as a company to developing distinctive and unique dishes, and this will also be our goal for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. We hope that our financial donation and role as an official supporter can contribute to hosting one of the most successful events next year in Korea.”
POCOG President LEE Hee-beom said, “Catering is a very important part of any major event, so it is great to have Shinsegae Food helping us to provide high-quality meals to thousands of people that will be at the venues in the Alpensia Olympic Park. We will work closely with them and our other providers to ensure consistency and quality across all venues and catering facilities. I would also like to thank the wider Shinsegae Group for their financial support of PyeongChang 2018.”
Shinsegae Food has been a leader in the domestic meal service market for twenty years and is focused on providing healthy and high-quality meals across the globe.
The donation given by the retail conglomerate will go towards the remaining Games preparation and administration. Their financial support is instrumental in accomplishing PyeongChang 2018's goal to achieve financial balance. In addition, the contributions of local companies such as Shinsegae Group are important as their assistance allows the message and excitement of the Olympics to go further. New Horizons for PyeongChang is about reaching new audiences for winter sports and opening up the Republic of Korea to a global audience, just as it did at the Olympic Games Seoul 1988.
Shinsegae means ‘New World’ in Korean, so their backing of the Games which is all about the creation of ‘New Horizons’ is very apt as they both strive to create new experiences and engage the local communities.
