Goodnight PyeongChang 2018: The Winter Games Comes to an End after an Incredible Closing Ceremony


The Closing Ceremony has come to an end, marking the conclusion of the wonderful celebration of sport and community that has been PyeongChang 2018.

Although many believed that the opening ceremony would be a tough act to follow, the Closing Ceremony successfully celebrated the momentous occasion that has been the 2018 Winter Games.

Peace, the central theme of the Opening Ceremony continued to flow through the Closing Ceremony via the incredible performances that best portrayed the contemporary and traditonal arts of Korea.

A Sky of Drones


One of the most fondly remembered features of PyeongChang 2018, the Intel drones made a welcome appearance during the Closing, moving from the shape of a giant Soohorang to a love heart. Athletes and spectators alike greeted the Illumination in the night sky with the much-loved ‘finger heart’.

PyeongChang A Journey to Remember and a Legacy Just Beginning

Audiences at home could enjoy the LED shell of aerial shots of the Sashindo Turtle entering the arena and ‘traveling through time’ as the stadium floor morphed through colourful slides of the natural elements, indicating the rapid pace of which this incredible Olympic Games has moved from start to finish. Meanwhile spectators in the stands saw the mighty towers of the Pagoda that symbolised the light of Harmony and solidarity shine bright in all its magnificence.

Showstopper CL Wows the PyeongChang Crowd

The party really got started when songstress CL emerged from the centre of the stadium to wow the PyeongChang crowd.
While singing her hit song 'The Baddest Female' 20 dancers holding torches danced in harmony, portraying a message of passion and the venturing spirit. No doubt, the Republic of Korea superstar has a few more international fans now.


EXO in the House
Recreating their famous one shot video for 'Growl' Exo, entered the stadium in personalised sports cars (one each) and dazzled crowds to the backdrop of exploding fireworks. Before the event each member spoke about what an honour it was to have the chance to make Olympic memories, because as they shared "none of us had been born yet when Seoul 1988 took place".

The children of Gangneung returned to show us the way to the future and join with us in saying goodbye to PyeongChang 2018.

Surprise Guest Garrix Lifts PyeongChang into the Atmosphere



The number 1 EDM DJ in the world was a fitting final guest for PyeongChang 2018. After pumping up the crowd before the evening came to a close, the beats got faster and faster, the speaker pounded and then...the bass finally dropped and the crowd went wild.

The Return of Inmyeonjo


In the sea of athletes, mascots, storyteller children and dancers, a parting appeared in the crowd. The crowd gasped as the legendary Inmyeonjo walked throught the crowd. The guest of honour was greeted with cheers as he moved to the beat of the Dutch EDM master.

The fireworks glow, the camera pans and the lights fade. For the people of PyeongChang, Gangneung and all of the Republic of Korea, this has been a celebration to remember. Thank you to everyone who was involved. See you in Beijing 2022.
