Hee-beom Lee President & CEO

Welcome to the official website of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Founded by Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1896, the modern Olympic Games have been long-regarded as the world’s greatest celebration of sports. Now the Games are widely recognised as an all-around mega entertainment event encompassing a number of areas including the economy, culture, environment, science and technology.

Following the United States, Canada and Japan, Korea has become the fourth non-European country to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The Games in 2018 will not only be celebrated worldwide, but will also mark a great milestone in Korea’s history, raising the country’s profile.

Three decades ago, Seoul 1988 united the world, transcending the ideological divide of the time. In 2018, once again, you will witness PyeongChang connect the world with a single passion – represented by our slogan, “Passion. Connected.”

To this end, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is committed to meeting the following goals. Firstly, we will raise Korea’s status in world sports. Secondly, PyeongChang 2018 will succeed on the economic, cultural and environmental fronts, promoting world peace and employing cutting-edge information and communication technology. And ultimately, we will pass on a sustainable legacy to the local communities and the country.

I would like to ask the citizens of Korea and the world to support and accompany us on our great journey to PyeongChang 2018.
