As the first event to officially open the Olympic Games, The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Torch Relay serves as an invitation for people to join in, bringing excitement and creating a nationwide Olympic atmosphere. It also introduces Korea’s rich culture and various tourist attractions along the Torch Relay route, making them part of the Olympic legacy.

The Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 Torch Relay Route will visit some of the wonderful places that had not been well known to the world, unlocking Korea’s hidden charms.

Nationwide Cultural Festival for Torch Relay

A City Celebration rounds off the day of torch bearing with the lighting of a temporary cauldron.
It highlights a unique identity and colourful culture of the community where the torch relay is staged, and allows people from all walks of life to share the inspiring moments.

Diverse events will be held everyday during the Olympic Torch Relay

  • Cultural Performance utilizing tourism resources
  • Creating Tourism Heritage
  • Offering opportunities to participate in Olympic Games to the whole nation.
  • As the climax of the torch relay of the day, a city celebration stages the last runner of the day lighting a temporary cauldron. The ritual will leave an unforgettable imprint upon people in the community.
  • The Olympic Torch will be welcomed by diverse celebrations featuring unique characteristics of the region. Wide participation of people across communities will add excitement to the celebrations.
  • The Torch Relay will shed light on the hidden charms of the cities and towns, giving birth to new tourist attractions, making them part of the Olympic legacy.
