Informations supplémentaires General
He switched from alpine skiing to cross-country skiing after the 2012/13 season. Initially he was looking for a sport to help him prepare physically to qualify in alpine skiing for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, until an injury ended his alpine Olympic ambitions. "At first I thought of taking up running, but it is too hard on my knees. I also thought of cycling, but it's too dangerous in winter. Then I saw some cross-country skiers go by, and the idea just came to me. I bought some equipment and after a few sessions I started to really challenge myself, and eventually I became addicted. After an operation on a sports hernia I knew my chances at competing in alpine skiing at the Olympics were finished. But then, a little voice in my head whispered the idea of trying cross-country skiing." (, 20 Sep 2017)

He brought eight children from an underprivileged suburb of Metz, France, to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. "The idea is to allow them to see the Games from the inside. Their adventure is more important than mine." (, 09 Feb 2010)

After injury ruined his chances of competing at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin he contemplated quitting skiing. He spent two years away from competition but returned to the slopes in 2008. (, 06 Feb 2010)
